Backcountry Pilots Fly-in & Stays

Calling all pilots! Looking for a backcountry fly-in + lodging experience like no other?  Ponca International (37AR) is BOC’s exclusive mountain-top grass airstrip and one of the most unique in the central U.S.  Spend the night in the Pilot’s Quarters, a luxury lodging getaway option that includes complimentary vehicle and hangar use!

Fly, Play & Stay

Ponca International (37AR) sits atop one of the higher points in the Ozark Mountains at 2301 MSL. Our grass airstrip, surrounded by Arkansas’s finest scenery, offers a fun, but technical experience that isn’t for everyone. The 1300’ long runway is an east/ west airstrip. While approaching, you will land uphill to the west (28) and depart downhill to the east (10).

Once you arrive, let us immerse you in our many Buffalo River adventures, including canoeing, kayaking and rafting (Mar-June) on the Buffalo National River.  Buffalo Outdoor Center also has an epic-level downhill mountain biking trail and Arkansas’s only wilderness zipline canopy tour.

If you’re looking to stay and play, you’ll love our newest lodging addition created specifically with backcountry pilots in mind.  Our enclosed hangar and Pilot’s Quarters were finished spring 2021. This unique accommodation provides you with a place to keep your plane inside, a courtesy 4-door Jeep Wrangler and a Pilot’s Quarters like no other.  This perfect setting for two hosts a king-size bed, full kitchen, shower bathroom and cozy living area all tucked away in a portion of the hangar. Plus, you’ll have a gorgeous, secluded mountain-top view across the Ozark Mountains and the Buffalo National River headwaters region, all for only $259 a night.

Looking to rest and relax with a larger group?  We have you taken care of with 25 unique cabin rentals and two beautiful lodges to choose from.

Please call Austin Albers, our president, at 479.586.8466 to reserve your spot as this exceptional backcountry fly-in lodging experience, which is only available via private reservation.  Austin can share suggested pilot skills and plane requirements for the airstrip, book your stay and coordinate adventure activities for you.

If you’d simply like to fly in—whether for a few minutes or for a full day of adventure—please call Austin at 479.586.8466 for more information about the airstrip and scheduling adventure activities.
